He has excellent knowledge of the area and helped guide us through the home buying process when we knew nothing about Connecticut and Fairfield County (relocating from NJ). Ryan quickly realized our concerns regarding finding the right community for our family and went above and beyond to introduce us to neighbors in different communities, arranging calls/meetings with ambassadors program, school tours etc. etc. I have purchased homes at least 3 times prior to this purchase and never did I experienced this kind of service with everyone. Ours was a challenging purchase and short time frame made it particularly stressful but Ryan did an amazing job navigating through the entire process. He took on things on his shoulders that I’d have expected sellers agent to have done. For instance, when we had concerns about the property and historical changes made to it, Ryan made several trips to the township to collect paper work and had an answer (resolution) for us every single time!! Since it was always a 100 miles trip for us, he arranged for all inspection schedules and took away a lot of time-consuming tasks away from us which was very helpful. “Selling one’s house can be a daunting undertaking – especially if one has been in the house for 44 years! How does one choose a realtor? I spoke to several realtors and decided to work with Ryan Cornell, the realtor who sold the homes of two of my friends on our road. His track record, his web page, his contacts in the field, and his knowledge of the inner workings of a house convinced me that he was the person who could help us sell the house. Little did I know I would also need to have a man with great patience! When we decided to put the house on the market I filled out the disclosure form to the best of my knowledge. Lo and behold, an inspector uncovered several problems that I had never anticipated. We discovered that there was an abandoned oil tank underground. That’s a no, no these days. Ryan offered the names of some companies to contact and we soon got that problem solved. After that, testing disclosed that we had radon in the basement! Surprise, surprise. We lived there for 44 years and never knew there was radon in the house! Ryan calmly advised me and we soon got that obstacle under control. As if that was not enough, we were told that we had some asbestos on exposed pipes in the basement that had been inadequately removed. So, on to solving a new problem. Did Ryan throw up his hands in despair? No, he calmly encouraged me to move forward and he kept saying that the right people would come along. The last straw was uncovering the fact that one of our beams had been weakened by termites, probably years ago, and the site was no longer active. We had to find a company to come in to replace one of the beams. It seemed that every time we solved a problem a new problem appeared. I think Ryan shared our vision of the charm of the house and property and he was able to see light at the end of the tunnel. When it came time to renew our contract I was sure Ryan would not want to deal with all of our surprises any longer. When I asked if he would be willing to stick with us he said, “Of course!” Our house is now sold, we are settling into our new home, and we are very grateful to Ryan for all the patience and guidance he gave as we went through the journey. He’s a pro, an expert realtor, and a positive thinker. In my book, he’s a saint!
